London,20February2018:Filmingbeginsthismonthonthehighly-anticipatedthirdseriesofITVandMainstreetPictures’compellingcrimedrama,Unforgotten.CreatedandwrittenbyscreenwriterChrisLang(TheTunnel,AMother’sSon,DarkHeart),thenewsix-partseriesseesthereturnofBAFTAnomineeNicolaWalker(LastTangoInHalifax)andSanjeevBhaskar(GoodnessGraciousMe)asDCICassieStuartandDISunil‘Sunny’Khanastheyinvestigateanotheremotionally-chargedcoldcase.ThepairwillbejoinedfortheseriesbyacclaimedactorsAlexJennings(Victoria,TheCrown)KevinRMcNally(PiratesOfTheCaribbean,DesignatedSurvivor),NeilMorrissey(LineOfDuty,TheGoodKarmaHospital)andJamesFleet(IndianSummers,TheVicarOfDibley)whoplayaclose-knitgroupofoldschoolfriendsthathavestoodbyoneanotherthroughthickandthin.However,whenthebodyofateenagegirlwhowentmissingattheturnofthemilleniumisfoundatabuildingsiteofftheM1motorway,thefourmenareplacedunderthespotlightandtheirrelationshipsaretestedtothelimit.ExecutiveProducersandManagingDirectorsofMainstreetPicturesSallyHaynesandLauraMackiesaid,“WearedelightedtoonceagainwelcomesuchafantasticcastofhugelytalentedactorstojoinNicolaandSanjeevforthethirdseriesofUnforgotten.ChrisLang’scomplexandintricatescriptsgetbetterandbettereachyear,andthenewstoryisnoexception.WealsodelvedeeperintoSunnyandCassie’sownpersonallivesthisseries,experiencingtheeffectsthatthecaseshaveontheirownrelationshipsandwellbeing.”SetacrossthesouthofEnglandinlocationsincludingNorfolk,WestSussex,Bristol,HampshireandLondon,thenewserieswillexplorehoweverydaylivescanbefracturedanddestroyedbyoneevent,showingthatappearancescanoftenbedeceiving.Hailedthe“bestdetectivedramaofthedecade”bytheDailyTelegraphand“crimedramaofthehighestclass”byTheGuardian,thefirsttwoseriesprovedhugelysuccessfulwithviewersandcriticsalike,withthelastseriesreceivinganaverageconsolidatedviewingfigureofover6millionwitha21%share.TheserieshasbeencommissionedbyITV’sHeadOfDrama,PollyHill,withMainstreetPictures’SallyHaynes(BleakHouse)andLauraMackie(StateOfPlay)asExecutiveProducers,alongwithcreatorChrisLang.AndyWilson(Endeavour)returnstodirect,whilstGuydeGlanville(AgeBeforeBeauty)isproducingtheseries.TheserieswillbedistributedinternationallybyBBCWorldwide.
